Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures and characters. The word is a compound of the Japanese words "編み ami", meaning "crocheted or knitted", and "包み kurumi", literally "wrapping", as in 縫い包み nuigurumi "(sewn) stuffed doll".   Amigurumi is essentially the same as crochet, only it refers specifically to the process of making 3D toys. Crochet uses a range of techniques, whereas amigurumi almost always involves working in the round, making spheres which are then stuffed to form the limbs of some adorable little animals and quirky characters.

This kit contains everything you need to make your own magical amigurumi Harry!

The instructions include an illustrated step-by-step guide to all the crochet stitches you'll need, as well as 10 more Potter-inspired projects to try, including more amigurumi/crochet characters together with various felt characters, including Dobby, Dumbledore and the Dark Wizard himself.   Please note that the kit includes all the materials needed to make your own Harry; you will need your own materials to make any of the other projects included within the step-by-step book.

The kit contains:

  • illustrated instruction book and crochet stitch guide*
  • all the colour yarns needed to make Harry
  • crochet hook & needle
  • stuffing

Recommended for children and adults who can crochet: *the instructions include the crochet patterns AND how to crochet, however I would suggest this makes an ambitious starter kit for a complete beginner.  If you're confident then do give it a go, but if buying as a present I would suggest gifting it to someone who has crocheted before - it will make a fantastic next project for crochet wizards and those in training!
